While Legacy does have the labor and equipment to perform most excavating related projects, there are times when our non-exclusive joint ventures are the best option for our customers. We have strong relationships with experienced electricians, plumbers, concrete pumping companies etc., that work in conjunction with Legacy's excavating services. I see that your company does a lot of commercial work? Does Legacy also perform residential projects like asphalt driveways, retaining walls, concrete patios, sidewalks, etc..? You bet. We have our MHIC (Maryland Home Improvement) License. Likewise we are licensed to contract in the State of Virginia. It's time to replace our driveway. We're open to asphalt or concrete. Which is cheaper? With today's volatile fuel prices, this is a great question. The prices can actually be fairly close. Our estimator will meet with you and provide a proposal for both options in helping to determine the best choice for your property. We're interested in building an addition to our home, but don't know where to start regarding permits and septic issues. Does Legacy handle this type of project? Yes. In fact, Legacy can guide you regarding permitting issues, build your foundation, address any septic related matters, even remove trees and vegetation as well as create a separate construction entrance if necessary. I'm having problems with my septic drain field. Is Legacy licensed to make septic repairs and installations? Yes, we have full-time personnel that are licensed in several local jurisdictions to repair, replace and install septic fields. Legacy also installs sand-mound systems as well as virtually any drain field related matter. My basement floor is wet and sometimes even damp up against the wall. I can't see cracks in my foundation, but have noticed that water is pooling in some areas just around the perimeter of my home? Would it cost to have someone come take a look at this? All of our estimates are free estimates. We will meet with you on-site and usually forward a written proposal over to you within just a few days. I love the look of my new driveway, sidewalk and patio. How do I care for my new concrete? See our Concrete Care page. Is a geothermal heat pump right for my home? Yes. While certain applications may take different considerations, almost anyone can reap the benefits and rewards from a geothermal system. A lack of outdoor space surrounding your home may not necessarily prevent you from being a candidate for this system. Homes without much space may need a system that "goes vertical." Contact Legacy to see how this system can work for your home. How much more efficient is a geothermal system compared to my traditional heat pump? The efficiency of Geothermal Heating and Air Conditioning is approximately 50-65% more efficient than an HVAC system. Specific savings vary due to factors such as different house designs, equipment efficiency, fuel costs, and weather. For example, Legacy is currently working on the construction of a 9700 square foot home which is being built implementing both geothermal and ICF construction. The average estimated monthly utility bills should be around just $200 per month! A conventionally built home of the same size would average $950 per month. I have some land that I need to have cleared. I want the shrubs and many of the trees removed - even the tree stumps. In these "Green Times" is this something your company can handle? Yes. As part of our land clearing services, we may take resulting logs to a sawmill to be reclaimed as lumber. Additionally, we also use resulting wood chips for soil stabilization. I just found out that we need to install a sandmound system for our new construction. I have no idea where to start. Does Legacy install Sandmounds? Yes, Legacy is a licensed sandmound installer. We can also help you in regards to engineering of your system. In addition to sandmounds we have education regarding drip systems and low pressure distribution. I think that I have a sinkhole in my yard, but I have no idea where to start. Can you help? Absolutely. It's important to us that each is approached individually with an on-site inspection (usually as part of our free consultation). Sinkholes can range from being very minor in nature to something very significant. Some sinkholes are just a matter of an abandoned drywell, in other instances they may require professional engineering services. What matters to Legacy is that the project is appropriately handled and we can help you do that. I think that I may need to have my septic repaired, but how can I know if a contractor is quoting me more than I need? Good news! Once Legacy has excavated the system so that we can see actually what's happening with a septic system, the appropriate county inspector is met on site by our representative. In most cases, the County actually dictates the scope of work. Then, after Legacy has completed the work, the County comes back to inspect and approve the repairs. You'll get only the services that you need - no more - no less.
